Rūta’s support – an investment in young athletes

The closing ceremony of the 24th season of the Lithuanian Pupils Basketball League (MKL) took place in Kaunas on Wednesday. The event honoured all the winners of the season and those of various nominations, who were awarded with presents by the League’s sponsors, including Rimantas Gluodas, production director at Rūta.

During the event, Mindaugas Balčiūnas, president of the LTU Basketball Association, stressed that the MKL is considered the backbone of Lithuanian basketball for a reason. It is the only league that unites generations of basketball players: those who first played in the league are probably already grandparents, and their children and grandchildren have since taken their place.

As a family business now run by the founder’s great-grandchildren, the theme of generational succession is near and dear to Rūta. Since its founding, the company has been committed to its traditions, passing on experience and values from one generation to the next. Sport, arts and culture have always been important to Rūta, and the company seeks to actively contribute to various initiatives in these areas.

For the second year in a row, Rūta is happy to support the MKL and contribute to the development of young, rising basketball stars. Young athletes not only achieve personal victories, but also contribute to the promotion of the nation in the international sports scene. We hope that the support provided has helped to foster motivation, determination and self-confidence in young people – qualities that are important in both sport and life.
